I Consult from 196 Victoria in Woodstock as an Integrated Coach, seeing individuals and running small self-development groups. With a background in Psychology and training in Counselling, Coaching and Somatic Therapies my aim is to help you approach challenges in your life on every level and from all possible angles. Together we will explore blocks that may be holding you back while designing steps that lead to a more positive future.
Every person and situation is unique therefore I tailor our sessions to your individual needs and requirements. Some clients may simply want several Coaching sessions with a thinking partner who helps them find clarity and holds them accountable for carrying out action plans towards achieving their goals. Others may need a skilled and empathic listener in order to process deeper emotional hurts and work through pain that may be limiting their lives in some way. Many work best with both approaches in order to clear unresolved issues that may be holding them back while working towards reaching their full potential.
As a Counsellor, Coach and Somatic Therapist my skills span the whole spectrum of personal growth, healing and self-development. I believe that we all hold the answers and solutions within and given the right environment we are able to heal, uncover our inner treasures, grow and flourish. It is my aim to provide this space for my clients by offering support, guidance, encouragement and unconditional positive regard.
WHAT IS COACHING?
Coaching focusses on goals and possibilities. The aim is to help clients learn new skills and tools to build a more satisfying and successful future. The coaching process involves a collaborative conversation during which clients work on steps and design actions that ultimately lead to goal attainment in their personal or professional lives. Coaching is an empowering process; it is action orientated and solution focused, the client is regarded as an expert of his/her own life. Coaching unlocks their potential and facilitates performance, learning and development.
WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
The aim of Counselling is ultimately to help people resolve pain and improve emotional states. Counselling provides time and space to look at what is distressing us, explore issues, raise awareness, develop powers of self-reflection and feel encouraged to generate new understandings. Pent up emotion may cause anxiety, stress and depression, being able to express strong feelings with a Counsellor often alleviates such symptoms. The Counselling process gives us the feeling that someone is with us in the struggle to make sense of what often seems at the onset, insurmountable troubles. Expressing difficult thoughts and emotions in a safe, caring space can bring tremendous relief and what we discover is often revelatory.
HOW COACHING AND COUNSELLING CAN WORK TOGETHER
Coaching looks at the present with an aim toward the future, it starts from the premise that everything is okay, but there is more to reach for in your life. However, Coaching may not be able to take you to the future you desire unless some of your experiences from the past have been sufficiently addressed. It is often the case that Coaches identify an obstacle to living the life you want which cannot be overcome without addressing “a problem”. Counselling on the other hand recognizes that there is something wrong and addresses experiences that have affected you in the past and that are still affecting how you operate in the present. Counselling can be a lot more meaningful and effective if it looks at the past with the explicit purpose of transforming your experience of the present in a way that leads to a more fulfilling future. As a Counsellor and Coach I have the skills to assist you in reaching your goals and moving forward in your life as well as doing the deeper emotional exploration which is often essential in order to work through blocks that may be holding you back.
